The original sera siporax Professional is suitable for use in fresh and salt water aquariums as well as in ponds. Regardless of the type of filter (internal/external/trickling filter), it maximizes the surface area required for biological cleaning and provides the optimal substrate for the colonization of the necessary filter bacteria.
In nature, filtering and degradation processes in the water body bottom play an extremely important role. Organic waste is converted by microorganisms and is thus available again to the natural cycle as a nutrient for aquatic plants – pollutants such as ammonium, nitrite and nitrate are removed. Since nature produces little waste in relation to the amount of water, the existing ground surface is sufficient to accommodate sufficient microorganisms.
In an aquarium, however, there is a small biotope in a very small space. In order to ensure a complete and safe decomposition of organic residues, it is therefore necessary to increase the settlement area to a maximum.
sera has implemented this to perfection with the unique high performance filter medium sera siporax.
In contrast to other filter rings on the market, sera siporax consists of sintered glass. The unique material convinces by a special three-dimensional pore structure. This allows a maximum enlargement of the surface. At the same time, the fine pores create ideal settlement conditions for pollutant-degrading bacteria. Since it is an interconnected system, the bacteria are permanently surrounded by water and can thus break down pollutants with the greatest possible efficiency. In addition, the unique arrangement of the pores allows self-cleaning of the substrate and thus a very long service life of the filter.
In combination with specialized bacteria, sera siporax also enables a multitude of other special applications, such as the prevention of algae or targeted water treatment.
