Description
Chrysaora colorata, also called compass jellyfish, is mainly found in the waters off the Californian coast.
In the wild the umbrella can grow up to 70cm in size and the tentacles up to 5m long. These jellyfish are therefore not suitable for normal home aquaria.
At the beginning they are rather whitish/pink, only from about 10cm of umbrella diameter they start to get the characteristic purple stripes.
The poison of bred compass jellyfish is hardly detectable, but they can still cause mild irritation to people with sensitive skin.
Our compass jellyfish are very young, so a maximum life span in your aquarium is guaranteed.
This jellyfish species is only suitable for large jellyfish aquariums.
